Introduction

Are you looking for the best note-taking app across all platforms? then you are reading the right article.  Because in this article going to review the Microsoft Loop app. And giving you a comparison between the Microsoft Loop vs the Notion. And find out which is the best note-taking app for you.

So guys my name is Shahid and I have been a blogger for sense 4 years. Also, I’ve been an Apple iOS user for the past 10 years, and in these 10 years, I have used the Notion app for taking my daily notes but now we are going to find out. If Microsoft’s new Loop app is better than Notion or not. So without wasting any time let’s just get right into it.

What is Microsoft Loop

Microsoft Loop app

So what is this Microsoft Loop? Well, it is a new productivity suite from Microsoft that’s designed to help you work more collaboratively and efficiently. Loop combines the best of Microsoft’s existing productivity apps, such as OneNote, Teams, etc, into a single, unified experience.

With Microsoft Loop, you can create and share interactive documents, notes, and tasks with others in real-time. You can also embed Loop components in other Microsoft apps, such as Teams and Outlook.

Different from Notion

But how is it different from Notion? Well, it is not. If you look at the interface, it looks like a total rip-off of Notion when it comes to the UI. Just take a look at the two workspaces. If you ignore the external widgets that I have added in Notion, they are basically the same. I got the clock and calendar widgets from a third party.

You can even add that cover picture and an emoji on the top of the page just like in Notion. Credit where it’s due, the emojis look different so I’ll give them that. It works on the block mechanism just like Notion. Every block is a different element.

You can use the Forward Slash command to add different workspaces like a checklist, numbered lists, and different kinds of headings. Just like Notion. Database management is far better in Notion as of now as it gives you far more options.

The Area where Microsoft Loop stands out

But the area where MS Loop stands out the most is its ability to collaborate. You can create and share interactive documents, notes, and tasks with others in real time. Notion is also a collaborative tool, but it’s not as focused on real-time collaboration as Microsoft Loop. You can easily mention your team members working on your project and they will be notified.

And also it can be integrated with other Microsoft 365 apps, such as Microsoft Word, Teams, and OneNote as it is a part of the Microsoft 365 Suite. It has this option called Voting Table, this looks really cool, to be honest. Since Loop is designed keeping collaborations in mind, this voting table can be a really useful thing.

The Advantage of Using Microsoft Loop

I have been using Loop for a while and customized my workspace based on that. The advantage of it being similar to The notion was that I didn’t have to spend a lot of time figuring out the interface. You can create Pages and Subpages.

One difference I found out in Subpages is that, if you click the main page on Notion you are able to see the Subpages as a list, and clicking on them will lead you to that particular page. But if you click on the Main page on Loop, it opens up a blank page and that really made me sad.

The Thing I Love About Microsoft Loop

One thing I really liked about Loop is that you can create completely different workspaces. When you open the loop you will be taken to a different landing page. I have created different workspaces based on my different projects and I will be honest, this thing actually turns out to be really helpful.

It has this Ideas page on top which is not linked with any of the existing pages. I guess you can use it as a random notepad to write down your random Notes. I have this page on Notion, I call it my Scrapbook. I use it for the same purpose, to note down my thoughts and random things I come across.

Customizable difference between notion and Microsoft Loop

The notion is a more customizable tool than Microsoft Loop. You can create a wide variety of different types of documents, and you can customize the look and feel of your Notion workspace. Microsoft Loop is less customizable as you can only select from the few templates it provides. Also as of now Loop doesn’t have a Calendar view and that was something I really wished it had as I really use the Calendar on Notion as a video planner.

Is Microsoft Loop better than Notion?

So let’s address the burning question, is it the Notion killer? Like I previously said, No. But it surely has the potential to be a great productivity app. So, which tool is right for you? If you’re looking for a collaborative tool that’s focused on real-time collaboration, and also if you are a member of the Microsoft 365 Suite then Microsoft Loop is a great option for you.

If you’re looking for a more customizable tool that integrates with a wider range of apps, then Notion is a better choice. If you are new to note-taking and if you have never used Notion before then you can definitely give Loop a try as it is less overwhelming to beginners compared to Notion.
